The ReCYCLEry thrives solely through the voluntary effort of giving, determined individuals and our community at large. With the assistance of SURGE, we initiated and maintain the Blue Urban Bikes program and we welcome any and all volunteers, bike mechanics or not, to fulfill our mission, and now that fuel prices are at unexpected heights, demand is growing quickly. Please attend our workshops or contact us if you wish to contribute.
Located in Carrboro, NC, The ReCYCLEry is a not-for-profit organization that provides a creative workspace to connect salvaged bikes with active community members, creates opportunities for skill building and volunteerism, and seeks to increase the use of the bicycle for both transportation and recreation.
How do we do this? The ReCYCLEry is an exchange program: we exchange use of our facilities, tools, equipment and knowledge for your donations of time, labor and funding. The exchange is based on the time invested in teaching you how to repair bicycles. You can earn a refurbished bicycle by spending time helping another member of the community.
